01 — Wash Day
Wash Day Fine / Thin
Use a volumising, sulfate-free shampoo — focus lather on the scalp only.
Apply conditioner mid-lengths to ends only — never at the roots.
Wash every 1–2 days — scalp oils travel fast down a straight strand and flatten volume.
Rinse thoroughly — residue is immediately visible on fine straight hair.
Fine modifier: a volumising root spray applied before drying can dramatically increase lift.
Fine / Thin note: Conditioner is the most common culprit for flat, limp fine straight hair — if yours looks flat, start by eliminating conditioner from the roots entirely.
02 — Drying
Drying Fine / Thin
Press a microfibre towel gently onto hair — never rub.
Blow-dry with a round brush pointed downward for root lift and smoothness.
Use low to medium heat — fine hair is prone to heat damage.
Thin modifier: flip head upside down for the first few minutes of drying to maximise root volume.
03 — Styling
Styling Fine / Thin
Always apply a heat protectant before any heat styling.
Use only lightweight volumising spray or mousse at roots — no creams, serums, or heavy products.
A straightening iron adds smoothness; a round brush blow-dry adds body.
Fine modifier: dry shampoo applied at roots before bed gives extra lift the next morning — a favourite trick.
Fine / Thin styling note: Less is genuinely more with fine straight hair. One lightweight product applied sparingly will almost always outperform two or three products layered together.
04 — Refresh Days
Refresh Days Fine / Thin
Apply dry shampoo to roots — oils travel fast down fine straight hair.
A light brush-through is usually all fine straight hair needs between washes.
Fine modifier: dry shampoo is your best friend — it absorbs oil, adds grip, and restores volume.
Avoid: heavy creams, silicone-heavy serums near roots, heavy oils, anything labelled 'rich' or 'intense'.
Fine straight note: the number one mistake with fine straight hair is using products designed for coarser or curlier hair types.

01 — Wash Day
Wash Day Coarse / Thick
Use a hydrating, sulfate-free shampoo — coarse hair needs more moisture retention.
Apply a rich conditioner from mid-lengths to ends.
Wash every 3–4 days — coarse hair retains moisture better and doesn't need daily washing.
Rinse thoroughly — coarse hair takes longer to rinse clean.
Thick modifier: section hair while washing to ensure full product distribution.
Coarse / Thick note: Coarse straight hair benefits most from moisture-rich products — if your hair feels dry or straw-like after washing, upgrade to a richer shampoo and conditioner.
02 — Drying
Drying Coarse / Thick
Press a microfibre towel gently onto hair — never rub.
Apply a smoothing serum or anti-frizz product before blow-drying.
Blow-dry on medium heat in sections — thick hair takes longer.
Coarse modifier: a round brush directed downward tames frizz and adds shine as you dry.
03 — Styling
Styling Coarse / Thick
Always apply a heat protectant before any heat styling.
Apply a smoothing serum on lengths before using a straightening iron.
Iron in sections — never in one pass from root to tip on thick hair.
Coarse modifier: a small amount of lightweight oil on the ends after styling adds shine and controls flyaways.
Coarse / Thick styling note: The key to smooth, frizz-free results on coarse straight hair is locking in moisture before heat styling — never skip the smoothing serum step.
04 — Refresh Days
Refresh Days Coarse / Thick
Apply a small amount of smoothing serum or lightweight oil on ends to refresh smoothness.
A light brush-through is usually enough for coarse straight hair between washes.
Thick modifier: anti-frizz spray on the mid-lengths and ends refreshes the look without weighing hair down.
